A NEW CHAPTER FOR CV CUReS

After nearly 4 years as Chair of CV CUReS PAC, it’s time for a new chapter. I will be stepping down. There is more work to do and passing the baton will allow the effort to take the steps necessary to continue serving the Cumberland Valley School District community. Meanwhile, I am excited to focus my advocacy on statewide efforts to address the access to dental care crisis in PA.
 
Brian Allen and Mike O’Brien will lead as Co-Chairs with their incredible intelligence, strength, and care.
CV CUReS started with the idea that when it comes to education, we don’t have Republicans or Democrats in our schools and our community. We have teachers, students, parents, and taxpayers that are invested in good outcomes. We learned that electing school board members requires political savvy, but that bipartisan efforts are not only possible, they are powerful. Our community is hungry for solutions and tired of division.
 
I am so thankful to the thousands of people that made CV CUReS a success story and will continue that work with Mike, Brian, and other community leaders. In the last school board election, our candidates made history by getting nearly two times the number of votes of any previous candidate in a competitive election. Records were broken by bringing Democrats, Republicans, and Independents together. When it comes to our schools, 80% of us agree 80% of the time. Don’t let the 20% divide us. Let’s celebrate CV and work together with our educators where we can do better.

The 1 + 1 Vote Pledge is a commitment to help engage the Cumberland Valley community in local school board elections.   The pledge is an acknowledgement that you will vote and to encourage at least one other friend, neighbor, co-worker, or family member to vote.  It is not an endorsement of any candidate, political party, or agenda.  It is only an endorsement of the effort to give our community a stronger voice in local elections.

Committed to Cumberland Valley

The Cumberland Valley School District has a long tradition of academic and extracurricular excellence while maintaining the lowest tax millage in the county.  CV CUReS hopes to facilitate the kind of collaboration between all stakeholders that builds strong communities, protects home values, creates opportunity, and fosters a thriving economy.  Our mission is to serve Cumberland Valley students and taxpayers by promoting efficient management and extraordinary educational value.   We believe in supporting multiple educational pathways including enhanced career and technical education, magnet schools, college prep classes, and early college start programs.  We endorse partnerships with area employers, talented educators, administrators, and concerned citizens to create career opportunities and modern training programs that will support the needs of our growing and aging populations.

What We Do

We support Independent candidates

Our goal is to support School Board candidates who prioritize responsible management and leadership over politics.  We will support independent voices by sharing campaign funds with candidates that that are either unaffiliated with political parties or pledge political neutrality in their service to Cumberland Valley School District.  Candidates recieving support from CV CUReS must cross-file to run in both Republican and Democratic primaries, run as an Independent candidate, or be registered as an Independent voter.

We encourage community engagement.

We want all voices to be heard at the polls.  We encourage voter registration and make efforts to increase voter participation.

We facilitate voter education.

We hope to inform the public on candidates and school board issues thorough education, candidate forums, and digital debates.
